DELAYTEFUL!

As in, "Why do your lights go on moments after flipping the switch?" Answer: "Because they are delayteful!"

Wind and the Hammer

Katherine and I went to the Hammer Museum (the corner of Wilshire and Westwood) last evening to listen to David Foster Wallace read from his writings. The reading, coffee and tea were free. The crowd described by K. (at my request) as literary hipster. We skipped an early dinner to duck into the Hammer from heavy wind, which nearly wheeled a construction arrow of lights against the oncoming Wilshire traffic. The author read an essay about 9/11 from his new book Consider the Lobster. Wallace, I decided during the later part of the reading, is capable and infinitly brief in his writing, then polite and capable in the setting we attended. His writing doubles, triples upon itself with footnotes, appendix, parenthetical break within parenthetical bridge. I would not recommend his writings to the great majority of the readers of this blog. Do so anyways.
